Bloodroot
Poppy Family 
( Sanguinaria canadenisis)

Bloodroot, common name for a low, perennial herb (see Poppy), found throughout North America. It bears showy white flowers in early spring. The roots contain orange-red juice, which was used as paint and dye by Native Americans. The rootstocks are used in a strong emetic.

Scientific classification: Bloodroot belongs to the family Papaveraceae. It is classified as Sanguinaria canadensis.
